Associating Products with Related Products

The Related Products tab on the product page lets you link products together so you can quickly navigate between them and see at a glance which items are bundled. This is especially useful for COM (Customer’s Own Material) and custom order products that involve multiple components — like a chair that pairs a fabric vendor with a fabricator, or a window treatment that combines hardware, fabric, and a workroom.

This is the first step in a broader effort to make COM workflows more user-friendly inside Alcove.

What you can do with Related Products

• Link any two or more products on a project so they’re connected from the product page.

• Jump directly from one product to a related product without searching through the product list.

• See which products belong together at a glance — helpful when reviewing COM line items, custom orders, or multi-component pieces.

• Keep your fabric, fabricator, trim, and hardware products visually grouped so nothing gets lost in handoff or invoicing.

When to use Related Products

Related Products is designed for any product made up of multiple components or sourced from multiple vendors. Common use cases include:

• COM upholstery — link the fabric (from your fabric vendor) to the frame or piece being upholstered (from your fabricator).

• Custom window treatments — link drapery fabric, lining, hardware, and the workroom labor.

• Custom case goods — link the millworker, finish samples, and hardware.

• Reupholstery projects — link the existing piece to the new fabric and the labor product.

• Any multi-vendor product — anywhere the final piece depends on multiple line items working together.

How to associate products

1. Open the project that contains the products you want to link.

2. Navigate to the product page of one of the products you want to associate.

3. Click the Related Products tab.

4. Click Add Related Product.

5. Search for and select the product (or products) you want to link.

6. Save your selection.

The associated products will now appear in the Related Products tab on each linked product’s page. You can click any product in the list to navigate directly to that product’s page.

Removing a related product

1. Open the product page and click the Related Products tab.

2. Find the product you want to unlink.

3. Click the remove icon next to that product.

4. Confirm the removal.

The link is removed from both products — you don’t need to remove it from each one separately.

Tips for getting the most out of Related Products

• Link products as you create them. Associating products at the moment of entry takes seconds and saves time later when reviewing or invoicing.

• Use it for handoff clarity. If a teammate picks up a project, related products make the component relationships obvious without explanation.

• Group everything in a bundle. If a piece has a fabric, trim, and labor product, link all three to each other — not just two of them.

• Combine with clear product names. Naming products consistently (for example, “Smith Sofa — Frame” and “Smith Sofa — COM Fabric”) makes related products even easier to scan.

Frequently asked questions

How many products can I link together?

You can link as many products as you need. There is no limit on the number of related products per product.

Does linking products affect pricing, invoicing, or estimates?

No. Related Products is a navigation and reference feature only. It does not change pricing, totals, or how products appear on proposals or invoices.

Can I link products across different projects?

Related Products are linked within the same project. If you need to reference products across projects, please share that feedback with us — it helps shape what we build next.

Will related products show up on client-facing documents?

No. Related Products is an internal organizational tool. Clients will not see these associations on proposals, invoices, or other client-facing documents.

Can I see all related product groups in one place?

Right now, related products are visible from the Related Products tab on each product page. A consolidated view is something we’re considering for future releases
