Add Taxes to Project
To add taxes to your project, please follow the steps below:
Click on the three-dotted menu and choose Edit project in either of the tabs:
in the Projects tab next to the project in question
inside the Project Overview / Orders / Product Status tab.
Switch to the Details tab.
If you have already added tax rates to your Alcove account, please choose the necessary tax rate from the drop-down menu. If not or you need a different tax rate, click on Add Tax Rate.
Click out the window to save the changes. Your project will be updated automatically.
Note: To update the tax rates in your Alcove settings, please click on Edit Tax Rate Settings and follow this article.
Set Taxable as the Default for New Products in a Project
Each project has a Taxable default setting that controls whether newly added products are automatically marked as taxable. This lets you set it once at the project level instead of marking every product one-by-one.
Open the project and go to Edit project → Details.
Locate the Taxable default toggle (near the tax rate dropdown).
Set the toggle to On if you want every new product added to the project to be automatically marked Taxable Product = Yes.
Set the toggle to Off if you'd rather mark products taxable individually.
Important: This setting only affects products added after the toggle is changed. Products that already exist in the project keep their current Taxable status — the toggle does not retroactively update them. If some products are missing the taxable flag after you turn the default on, you can bulk-update them using the Product Tax Y/N multitask action described below.
Tip: If you notice new products are not automatically taxable in a project that already has a tax rate, check that this Taxable default toggle is set to On — that's the most common cause.
Add Taxes to Products
To apply taxes to an individual product, you will need to mark it as taxable. For that, please follow the steps below:
Go to the Product Status tab in your project.
Click on the product name to open the details page and then go to the Financials tab.
Set Taxable Product to Yes.
To mark multiple products as taxable at the same time, please follow the steps below:
Go to the Financials tab.
Multi-select necessary products by clicking on the Checkmark icon next to them.
Use the multitask bar above and press Product Tax Y/N.
Set Taxable Product to Yes.
Add Taxes to Shipping
To apply taxes to the shipping cost, you will need to set the shipping as taxable. For that, please follow the steps below:
Go to the Product Status tab in your project.
Click on the product name to open the details page and then go to the Financials tab.
Set Taxable Shipping to Yes.
To mark multiple shipping costs as taxable, please follow the steps below:
Go to the Financials tab.
Multi-select necessary products by clicking on the Checkmark icon next to them.
Use the multitask bar above and press Shipping Tax Y/N.
Set Taxable Shipping to Yes.
