If the Product Clipper isn't working, go through these checks in order. Most issues are solved by the first three.
1. Make sure you're using Chrome
The Product Clipper is a Chrome extension. Open the vendor page in Google Chrome and click the Alcove icon in the Extensions toolbar (top right). Pin it so it's easy to find.
2. Sign in with your Alcove email
Open the clipper and sign in with the same email address you use in the Alcove app. If you have more than one login, make sure it's the one with access to the project you're clipping to.
3. Choose a project before you clip
Click Clip New Product and select the project. Then assign a room from the dropdown or type a new room name and click Add.
4. If Autofill Data doesn't fill in the details
Autofill Data only works when the vendor's website provides structured product data. Many vendor sites don't. When the fields stay empty, fill them in yourself:
Highlight text on the page (for example the product name, price or dimensions) and choose which field to save it to.
Right-click an image and choose Clip Image, or use the Crop selector. You can clip up to 5 images.
Right-click a PDF link to save it as Specifications, Warranty or Install Instructions.
5. Reload the page and try again
Refresh the vendor page, then open the clipper again. If the clipper window was open while the page was still loading, it may not see the product details.
6. Reinstall the extension
In Chrome, remove the Alcove extension, then install it again from the Chrome Web Store and sign in.
7. Can't find your clipped product?
Clipped products are added to the project you selected with a Draft status. Open that project's Product Status page and check the room you assigned.
Still not working?
Send us a message from the chat bubble in the app with the vendor page link and a screenshot of what you see, and we'll take a look. In the meantime you can add the product by uploading its spec sheet or adding it manually.
